We make one kind of coat and we put everything we have into it. A trench you can wear to the office on a Monday and out to dinner on a Saturday, and still reach for when it rains in five years' time.
Introduction
Why we only make trench coats
East West Atelier started with a small frustration. A good trench coat was either very expensive, or it came at a friendlier price and simply didn't last. The shoulders sat wrong, the fabric creased the first time it rained, and the belt felt like an afterthought. There wasn't much in between.
So we decided to focus on that one coat. Not a full wardrobe, and not a new collection every few weeks. Just the trench, worked on until we were happy with the cut, the fabric and the small things you only notice after a season of wear: a collar that stays up in the wind, a belt that sits at the waist, a lining that slides over a jacket sleeve instead of catching on it.
That is still how we work. Every coat in the range has earned its place, and if one doesn't feel right on the hanger, it doesn't go on the site.

Made for British weather
Most of the people who buy our coats live in Britain, where the trench coat has been part of everyday life for more than a hundred years. People here know what a good one should feel like, and they wear it properly: on the commute, at the weekend, and through the drizzle that never quite turns into rain.
That's who we design for. A coat that still looks sharp after a wet walk to the station, with a fit that leaves enough room for a jacket or a thick knit underneath, and details that hold up season after season.
